Chinese Medical Science

shutterstock_102272188Chinese medicine is more than the various modalities and tools that are used. We are trained in classical Chinese medicine which, in part, means that we use the ancient theories at the root of the medicine to make diagnoses and guide treatment. This is in contrast to utilizing contemporary medical tools and information to do so. We find that this results in a more holistic, powerful treatment with fewer side effects.

Some of the aspects of Chinese medical science you might be familiar with are:

  • Five element theory
  • Yin yang theory
  • Six conformations or six channel theory
  • The theoretical underpinnings of the “jing-luo” or acupuncture channel system and the commonly identified “points” on those channels
  • Holographic understanding of reality
  • “As above, so below”
